Lecture in Sociology (Quantitative Data Resources)

The City University London has recently been awarded funding to host and develop the new City Q-Step Centre. Q-Step is a £19.5 million UK-wide programme designed to promote a step-change in quantitative Social Science training.

In this framework, it has been open a position about a Lecture in Sociology (Quantitative Data Resources). The successful candidate will take the lead in expanding the accessibility and use of data within the wider undergraduate curriculum in Sociology and (from 2015) International Politics. Specifically, the candidate will:

  • provide the additional support required by students who do quantitative dissertations, for example helping them to find relevant data sources
  • develop and update quantitative teaching resources. This includes developing subject-relevant contemporary teaching datasets and identifying useful online teaching resources
  • work with staff to embed quantitative methods across the curriculum. This post will therefore involve significantly reduced lecture and seminar teaching.

Deadline for applications is 5th March 2014.
