  Aggregated data - DATALOC System

Dataloc is an archive regarding Italian local government from the after-Second World War up to now.

During the years, thanks to contribution of several research agency, mostly the CNR (Italian National Research Council) and the MIUR (Ministery of Educazion, University and Research), but also several public and private agency, and with the participation of different Universities, like Calabria, Pavia and Torino, but above all the University of Cagliari, the ecological archive Dataloc has accumulated a signal amount of data about urban, social, economic and politic development of Italy in the after-War period. The patrimony is quantifiable through a first guesstimate of one thousand of variables in the municipality level. All variables are documented and labelled.

Dataloc includes several thematic areas. In particular, the most developed are the demographic statistics, the economic and health statistics; the political and administrative elections; the social pathology, cultural consumptions, the local government and the public services. The archive includes some data concerning Italy from after-War period up to now, coming from different sources, disaggregated through various territorial units (municipalities, provinces, major cities) and often are organized in long time series. The main point of the archive is the data-sets organization by different levels of territorial aggregation: municipality, urban municipality (municipalities with more 20.000 dwellers and the municipalities with more 100.000 dwellers in two data base which can be partially overlapped), province, regions and large statistical and functional divisions from ISTAT and several research carried out on the territory. However, the most interesting and original aggregation is relative to great metropolitan areas which allows to re-use the data sets by means of several definitions of metropolitan area.

Moreover, it has been created a large number of socio-demographic indicators (i.e. composition of population, income, electoral behaviour and local government data) related to different territorial units. Finally, a set of information about the longitudinal use of aggregated data and the cartographic representation, beyond to various classifications according to territorial typologies are available.
The database has been planned to pursue an high flexibility for a fast integration of new data sets, promoting a better comparability between new and old data.
